WHERE

South

AT A GLANCE

Land uses along the project corridor include residential, commercial, and industrial properties

One of the city’s roads in greatest need of repair

Daily traffic ranges from 15,000 to 30,000 vehicles along the project corridor

Improvements are needed for safety, quality of life, and economic prosperity

This project’s preliminary engineering phase (Phase I)
will identify corridor deficiencies, evaluate improvement alternatives, and develop
a preliminary design

Public Involvement is important to this project and will follow IDOT’s Context Sensitive Solutions (CSS) process

Phase I is expected to conclude in Summer 2027 leading to the project’s design engineering phase (Phase II)

THEY SAID IT

“Up and down the Rockford region, we’re restoring and rebuilding, creating jobs, and making sure working families have the opportunities and resources they need to build good lives for themselves and their families.”

Governor J.B. Pritzker

“You look at Collins Aerospace where there are thousands of employees, you look at the other businesses along Alpine and neighborhoods that can’t safely get across Alpine for medications, the grocery store or just to grab a bite to eat – this is a huge deal for us.”

Rockford Mayor Tom McNamara
